Accidental 1.5Bar boost

GGary5725 May 2007, 14:05

I have been fiddling with my boost controller trying to get my boost to 1Bar, thanks for the help Mr Calibrator I finally got it responding and controlling. While I was in traffic fiddling on the hand controller I ending up at the front of the queue waiting for the robot to change so I decided to try out my new setting. I pulled of slowly, slowed down to 1000rpm in 1st gear and floored it. The car hauled ass, I could hear the tyres squeaking through 1st , change to second and the tyres continued squeaking, sounded like they were about to loose traction. I was so shocked with the way it went, never felt something so fast in my whole life. The best part is the car has only been tuned to 1Bar so after that I have pulled back the timing by 4 degrees, which mean I could actually get more power 😂 , not that I will ever boost 1.5 on purpose again.

never felt something so fast???

thought you've driven ferrari's and lambo's and such?

Very Nice.

But that Small chirp from 2nd to 3rd is the best.

It is? Why?

vveecee25 May 2007, 15:35

he said it was fast with his t25 at 1.5 (jussus that sounds wrong)!

you gonna have a t28 and custom management, and a bunch of other awesome additions.

its gonna be a little rocket!

PPhinx25 May 2007, 15:44

Wait Gary57

Are you still running the stock T25? Damn and you want to push 1 bar?
I wouldn't even touch 0.8bar for a long time with that turbo seriously.

Maybe a T25g but thats still asking for trouble
After 0.8 it starts blowing only hot air. I would keep it at 0.5 bar.

But Vl@de's going to have a kick a$$ set-up. its going to be nice allot of tail out action

Guys, my car can't seem to keep the boost. It's very inconsistent. And if it reaches max boost then you'll see the boost gradually drops while driving the car hard.
Secondly if I accelerate from stand still then I can't reach max boost but only about 0.6. I need to accelerate gradually to reach max boost.

Can't find any leaks on the piping. What can this be?

vveecee25 May 2007, 16:31

hijack!!!! :200sx_offtopic:

but stock boost is about .6.

and the stock blower will lose boost gradually as the revs climb due to its small exhaust housing!!!

WWooHaa25 May 2007, 16:49

The harder & harder you drive the car, hotter the turbo gets. mine does the same thing, as the turbo gets hotter, the car doesn't pull as strong.

Bost drops off as the rev's rise. mine also stops at about 0.5 bar at redline.

GGary5725 May 2007, 18:45

who said i got a T25, got rid of that little hair dryer ages ago. I got 180 odd rwkw at 0.8bar so at 1.5bar it would almost double (roughly).

GGary5725 May 2007, 18:47

vlade with those forged internals arent u going to run high boost??

vveecee25 May 2007, 18:53

so what you running then?

i didnt think it could be, but i went with it anyway!

180rwkw as it is, is big numbers!

i was a passenger in dixlesss's s14 when it had 180rwkw. very quick!

GGary5725 May 2007, 21:17

got a TD04H, its about the same a/r as the T28. ja 180 odd kw is strong, so can u imagine what it was like at 1.5bar, dislex is going to have neck problems with that much torque on high boost.

vveecee26 May 2007, 12:39

hey i think jay has a td04 too!!!

no wonder he kicked my ass in a rolling start run the other day!

i thought that it was about the same as a t25, but i've never researched it properly

wwidowmaker26 May 2007, 18:33

it takes a big ass to admit being kicked :200sx_rockon:

PPhinx27 May 2007, 14:51

Ok which TD04H?

Do you have a T, G or c wheel?
Also what Size comp? 13,14,15?

Because the Td04h-18g just fits the Spec's of a garret T28 Unit.
Also depends on the Specs and trim of the wheels and A/r of the T28 unit.

Most of the Uno guys I know run a Td04h-15T to 1 bar.

GGary5727 May 2007, 19:08

15T. The turbo is too small i had to modify the internal wastegate port because the boost would creep to 1.5bar with the wastegate fully open. the button on the wastegate was 22mm and i had it made to 28mm, if my memory serves me right or was it 32mm ah shit not really sure. A few guys in Aus get 220RwKw with std internals and this turbo, so i think 200RwKw is a decent goal.
