Cool stuff! The last 6 months have been filled with everyone doing engine rebuilds and the like. I suspect the next month or so will be filled with engine run-in, and then, hopefully by July we're all meeting up for events again 🙂

Cool, hope you happy with the work!

I also suggest we should organise a tour someday towards 200SXMP's town and head through to the lae veld for a 2 or 3 day long weekend. When I was there recently I bought a map showing all the caves & waterfalls, etc, including gods window and waht not. The twisties are also awesome but I'm waiting for postman pat to send those unsuspecting snapshots I got...not to mention the fuel/toll gate fees..

Just lemme know when you're going to Tarlton so we can get some video and perhaps someone from the club can do a few runs against you. Depending on the state of the cars that is 😉

gasflowed head

Any one out there and our calibrator, tell me about this gasflow head story and dont any one of you reply with different answers. THE QUESTION is:
DOES A GAS FLOWED HEAD ON TURBO CHARGED ENGINS WORTH WILE?????
🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

Well Im no auto machanic but it makes sence to say if the motor can breath better it makes more power and runs more efficent. turbo or not

Logic and testing tells me that gasflowing makes a bigger difference on a forced induction car than on a NA car.

Il let u know i think it should be around in a week or two wen i go to fetch my car but il keep u posted I cant fu#@ing wait

On the Euro CA18DET head (which most of run), you need to do a decent flow/port job to make it respond well, just doing your normal flow and polish doesn't yield much result... That is what I've read on SXOC

BUT: do a decent job and have some supporting mods like cams and the results are impressive...

Our heads aren't like VW heads where if you do a flow / polish you get massive increases, you'll probably get more power from other mods with the same amount of money spent.

I think the intake manifold on the CA would be the bigger restiction.

Whats the inlet diameter to the plumen?? I thinks its like 57mm or something hey??

I think there's a lot you can do to most stock heads to improve them, especially if you want to pay lots you will probably get a sh!tload more power but I always get confused thinking if the increased flow of gases/increased diameters means you might have less power under boost?!!?? Screw the details, give your head/engine in and fork out R10-30k and see what you get 😉

GGary5731 May 2007, 14:13

Anyone modded their intake manifold?? Wish I could cut one open to see where the restrictions are and remove them.

When I master TIG welding Aluminum I will seriously think about a new intake manifold.

PPhinx31 May 2007, 14:20

I have done a little, 60 MM Throttle Body Intake matched and Port matched and smoothed the runners when the head was off.

GGary5731 May 2007, 14:23

Think it made any difference?? What difference did the throttle body make??

PPhinx31 May 2007, 15:21

The throttle made a big deference , But only down low , Throttle response is way up.

I really want to drive a close to stock SX to she how it feels again.

GGary5731 May 2007, 15:25

Sometimes I wish the same thing, wish I could undo all the mods I have done and drive it like when I first got it.

2200SX MP05 Jun 2007, 13:29

hey people i got my car back :200sx_beta1: mechanicaly sounds awesome but when i got it back there was no boost because of a boosr pipr being offfff and it was leaking oil because a breather pipe wasnt instoled incoreckly an now the f#$@ing thing mis fires in sy moer in :200sx_taz: this is how i feel any adwise on the mis fiering please :200sx_2guns: :200sx_gun_bandana: :200sx_gunsmilie: :200sx_200sx: :200sx_200sx: :200sx_200sx:

When is it misfiring and how much....I'd say check timing and sparkplug gaps, my money is on timing.

If you don't get the fault you should take it back......
