Strut Brace

Hay guys...

As you all know there is a lack of easy and cheap Strut Brace's for our cars .
So I don't know if anyone has checked but I have been wondering for some time if the brace off a 200Sti will fit.

Bolt patterns look similar and the length is around the same So I have contacted one off the performance guys up here in JHB and I have asked him to bring a strut for me to check so hold thumbs guys

its only R 400 if it fits

Well I am not surprised, I have baught many spares that came from a sentra, skyline, the s13 gearbox is a 2L skyline gearbox...89-92 model.....

EEro_sennin13 Jul 2007, 13:36

well for 400 bucks I dont mind if its off of a sentra. Ill get some 200sx stickers to stick on and no one will be the wiser.

ddwayne13 Jul 2007, 15:14

do u get a brace for an S14

RRBSX13 Jul 2007, 15:44

So Does it work or Not Please let me Know

Its only recently that i pushed my sx on a corner
only to realise it has quite a lot of body roll

TThe Calibrator13 Jul 2007, 18:46

A strut brace will do zero for your body roll. You need suspension bits decent shocks springs and swaybars.

Sorry Guys...

Didn't have time to meet the guy.
Will arrange something for this week

When I was making mine the problem I had with the sentra brace was the clearance over our intake manifold. Remember the sentra's motor is transverse and ours isnt. I did try fit one on my car but the bar was touching the intake manifold and wasnt even touching the strut mounts. I am not sure if it is the same bar as what you guys are looking at, but try it.

Ok bought one of the nissan 200STi Strut brace's

Unfortunately it can only fit one of the holes on the suspension strut and it doesn't seem to clear the bonnet.

I will do some panel beating to see if I can make it work

DDracomoderator30 Jul 2007, 09:58

Can it work if you drill other holes and if your bonnet is lifted?

PPhinx30 Jul 2007, 10:09

The Holes are not really an Issue.

The single hole, will hold the brace and should stop the flex.

I think it will work with a lifted bonnet, Because I can close my bonnet but the brace is pushing back

DDracomoderator30 Jul 2007, 10:11

What did you pay again?

PPhinx30 Jul 2007, 10:14

R 400

DDracomoderator30 Jul 2007, 10:18

Thanks.....I had some braces, paid someone to make brackets, that was about 2-3 months back, still not done, seems I will have to try these and then go and brake some knees to get the brace back and the money I spent..

DDanielmoderator30 Jul 2007, 10:30

hehehe whoops...i like the break the knees idea! LOL sorry man. Its unacceptable i know. And iv been waiting for mine longer than u

DDracomoderator30 Jul 2007, 10:35

Hey Danny, the difs between me and you, you are prepared to wait some more, I am not, I'm gonna pitch up and then I want my stuff back, no more waiting and being nice.

Guys there are such a vast number of braces available for our cars on ebay, why don't we just do a group buy.

Most are in 3-piece sets and range from $39 right up to $300+

I'd be game for a GB. Will post some pics soon.
