tein.

actually vlade did a supsension options thread somewhere. might be chat or lounge i think.

lots of nice options.

ddwayne17 Jul 2007, 09:28

will look for it thanks

vveecee17 Jul 2007, 09:38

most of them are expensive coilover options though.

i know that tein/tien (?) offer lowering springs that are good, about 2-3 grand IIRC!

not sure if eibach do?

SStephen Swanepoel17 Jul 2007, 10:47

I have the tein on my car but when I was looking I enquired about eibach and they wanted a dep of R5000-00
not nice hey.
I am very happy with my Tein items.
I also aquired the strut braces front and rear. they work nicely too.

how low did you drop her? i want to do 35mm front and 20 mm back

vveecee18 Jul 2007, 10:35

you should go as low as you feel comfortable with.

or you could be doff and go as low as i did, and then start searching for solutions to other suspension problems. like bump steer!!!

ddwayne18 Jul 2007, 11:24

ok lets try it this way. who on the forum droped their S14, how LOW and hows the ride?

SStephen Swanepoel18 Jul 2007, 12:26

I did
I used a dress up kit made by TEIN
I bought it from Import parts and Jerry is the contact there
The hight drop in mm, dont know 4sure
Phone Jerry and ask him
011-524 01090 or 0828058817
hope this helps

As to the ride it is awsome stiffer than stock but you dont need a kidney belt. and I had a Koenic kit before that real cheep and all to nasty!

It looks awsome too sorry no pics yet!

Why dont you guys take your springs to coil co and tell you want a spring like this just 30mm shorter. They will wined you a set of new spring with what ever tension you want and to whatever length you want.

You need to be very careful with the local stuff, the guys dont use the same metals etc as imported kits, I've had long chats with Steve Hurley from CRS in Midrand here is his response to a "Local/Cut/reWind" post on the VW Club: http://www.vwclub.co.za/vwforum/viewtopic.php?t=39224&highlight=

Steve Hurley wrote:

It is a huge problem and there are companies that do some strange things with suspension and put your life at risk . The comment about the orange springs is correct Koenig springs are orange, Koni is metallic Blue , En force are red, Eibach generally Met Black but it can vary and H and R are all kinds of colours but the Name appears on the spring. If someone has heated the spring to shorten it 2 problems occur , first the spring is not long enough to stay tight in the spring seats so when you jack the car up or put it on a 2 post lift the spring can jump out of its mounting point, second and more importantly shortening a standard spring makes it up to 30 % SOFTER , Nightmare because now you only have half the travel and a much softer spring . The car will ride terrible and suspension will bottom out at the slightest bump in the road.

GGary5718 Jul 2007, 15:17

Coil Co in DBN here dont touch your springs, they will make a new set. So they will take measurements off yours and remake them to the exact same spec.

ddwayne18 Jul 2007, 15:18

Thats y id rather let a pro build a kit for me. there have been doing it for over 30yrs and they did a bloody good job on my previous cars. i dont trust koenic coz had 2 bad encounters and import kits are damn expensive

vveecee18 Jul 2007, 15:20

can anyone say:

EL-DOR-AAAAAAHHHHH-DO.

quite a cheap mod!!!
