Ok here follows my update...

Been damn busy on Saturday and Sunday working on cars, hopefully this week will be without any car issues want to catch up on my gaming, movies and series 😀 😀

Ok getting the head on was no easy task, like I'm use to, first off I run into the following problem...

This is what happens if your head and block has been skimmed to many times.... so I fixed it by grinding a bit of the waterpump

Block all ready and prepped...

ARP Bolts, its my first experience with this stuff, its not as easy as dropping in bolts and the head... you have to hand tighten the bolts first, then insert the washers into there location in the head, you can't add the washers once the head is in there is no space for the washers to go past the bolts... then you drop the head in, and if you are lucky not to get lube on the face of your head you can start the tightening process... was scary as shit, I've never torqued bolts with lube on them, it constantly felt like the shit was going to snap any moment, because it torques so easy... Normally it bites when dry, this just goes and goes and goes till you hear the "CLICK" of the torque wrench.

Cosmetic gasket and ARP bolts

Engine all done

Motor ready to be dropped in...

I found it a bit harder dropping the motor in with the exhaust attached like that, my exhaust touched the ground long before the gearbox did... But at least it saved me that effort of trying to tighten the thing by the turbo...

I did about 10km with the car on Saturday night, had problems starting it after that, no clue what it can be at this stage it nearly does feel like the car is flooding but when I pull plugs they are dry dry dry, but the backfires indicated to me that there is unburned fuel in the exhaust...

I also installed my LS05 Lamba sensor (thanks Gary for info) works a charm at least I can keep an eye on my AFR, the car was about 10% richer than it needed to be, so I played with that adjusted it down...

I want to say thank to my buddy Danie in his absence for all his help, I didn't even ask, he just pitched up out of his own will and helped... Thanks man I owe you!

VVladeadmin03 Dec 2007, 18:26

Got the bitch started... was a combination of things... Fuel and fuel pump relay not kicking in or so it seams, but it does start much better now, thanks Gary for the settings 30Km on the clock, gonna take it slower than last time, want to sort out the map first before I put on huge KM's...

TTobyadmin03 Dec 2007, 19:20

CCharl03 Dec 2007, 21:32

ya you get used to it after so many times and the work just fffllooooooowwssssss. removing and rebuilding an engine for some of us is now like changing a flat tyre when we were younger

VVladeadmin04 Dec 2007, 06:26

Thanks guys... I'm actually very nervous every time I think about driving, its been a year of hassles... Hopefully she'll last 🙂

GGary5704 Dec 2007, 13:16

What was the problem?? What did you have to change to get it to start??

VVladeadmin04 Dec 2007, 13:32

I think my fuel relay is getting old, my fuel pump do not come on all the time... that stuffed me around and the flooding, I copied your settings and I also activate the flood clear function to clear the flood if the throttle is open more than 80%.

GGary5704 Dec 2007, 13:34

So did you use my starting settings or did you use my whole map??

VVladeadmin04 Dec 2007, 13:36

just the starting settings, for now... I want to start try your map today if everything goes well.

GGary5704 Dec 2007, 14:08

If you cant get it to start on my map (which I cant see why not) then you will have to manually copy all the settings 🙁 .

DDracomoderator05 Dec 2007, 10:59

Great to hear you are up and running!!!!!!! 😉

GGary5705 Dec 2007, 11:00

Any luck with running it on my map??

VVladeadmin10 Dec 2007, 07:43

To be very honest... Nope haven't really tried 😳

But I have been logging my trips so I can revisit the map and start tuning it, but before I try that I'll try your map...

But also remember you said that map I had was an old 😉 "Gary Starting 6 or something"

GGary5710 Dec 2007, 09:22

But also remember you said that map I had was an old "Gary Starting 6 or something"

Ok Ill send you the new one tomorrow, think it is GARYDYNO 1 STARTING 7 HB2 RT2. I think I fiddle to much 😂 . Oh that means it the 1st dyno tune I did, 7th starting map that has worked (must of done about 30), 2nd tune for high boost (1 Bar), 2nd road tune done to get the part throttles correct.

VVladeadmin11 Dec 2007, 06:59

Got your map to start up, it just runs very lumpy, I played with the timing and fueling trim to see if that won't smooth it out, got it idle okayish but when you ref it up it sounds like its missing.

GGary5711 Dec 2007, 08:25

Its too lean, your AFR should coincide with what I am saying. Remember I have a 5th injector which you dont. Click on fuel and adjust the overall trim, this will help it out. Unfortunately it is not 100% but should help out for now. When you tuning at least you now know that you much richen up the map (a direction in which to go).

Another thing which you could do is manually copy over your fuel map, teadious but will sort all of that out.
